Mack Hair is crowned the winner

Mack Hair has scooped first prize in Rugby First’s best Christmas Shop Window competition for their winter wonderland display of snowy peaks, reindeer, fir trees and balloons.

24 local businesses took part in the competition, which for the first time invited the public to choose their favourite festive display. Almost 2,500 votes were placed via Facebook, with more than 500 received for Mack Hair for them to be crowned the winner.

Co-owner Claire Gillooly at Mack said: “We are delighted to have won this competition – especially as it is the first time that we have entered! This year has been so miserable we wanted to welcome customers back to the salon after the November lockdown with a display that would brighten up peoples’ day. We would like to thank Abel Illustrations for the painting and Social HQ for the balloon arch who created our festive display and for all of our lovely customers for taking the time to vote for us.”

Mack Hair has won a banner ad, editorial feature and social media promotion by lifestyle blog Muddy Stilettos Warwickshire and will be promoted to more than 15,000 shoppers in the county in January.

Artist and illustrator Sally Abel is based in Rugby and has created window displays and chalkboard designs for several town centre businesses, which can be viewed on Instagram @sallyabelillustration.

Social HQ are party and entertainment specialists who are based in Leamington Spa, they created a balloon arch for the interior of Mack Hair. https://www.facebook.com/thesocialhq1
