Rugby First and Rugby Borough Council have taken the decision to cancel this year’s Christmas Lights Switch On event.
Due to take place mid November, the Christmas Lights Switch On event attracts crowds of more than 6,000 people who enjoy the lights and entertainment of this major event, which starts Christmas celebrations in the town centre.
Rich Warren, Operations Director at Rugby First said: “We understand and share the disappointment with everyone that has enjoyed the Christmas Lights Switch On event in the past, but the public’s safety is our priority and uncertainty over COVID-19 simply prevents us from being able to hold it this year. Christmas certainly isn’t cancelled however, and we are looking at other ways that residents and businesses can mark the festive season.”
Plans for Christmas in Rugby 2020 are currently being discussed and will be announced shortly.
